🇯🇵 Japanese Customs

1. Shoe Etiquette

As a part of Japanese custom, we kindly ask you to remove your shoes before entering.

2. Public Behavior

On trains and buses, it is good manners to avoid talking on the phone and to remain quiet.

People always line up in an orderly fashion at stations and bus stops, so please wait for your turn.

3. Garbage Separation

Rules vary by region, but common categories include “burnable,” “non-burnable,” and recyclables such as glass bottles, cans, and PET bottles.

4. Quiet Hours

Please keep noise and loud conversations to a minimum, especially after 10:00 p.m.

Japanese houses often have thin walls, so keeping quiet is important to avoid disturbing neighbors.
